German Cookbook Prize: These are the best cookbooks in Germany

Yesterday, Wednesday evening, it was that time again: the best cookbooks in Germany were awarded. Since 2020 the German Cookbook Prize from the cookbook blog Norway lobster, which is run by the journalists Benjamin Cordes and Stefan Spiegel. It honors the best German-language cookbooks of the year in 26 different categories. All cookbooks published in German between December 1st of the previous year and November 30th of the year of the award will be considered.

Two star chefs were even honored this year: Andreas Widmann, who wrote the best cookbook in the “Germany” category. In “Natürlich Schwäbisch” he gives insights into his star restaurant and shows how Swabian classics can be interpreted in a modern way. Star chef Tohru Nakamura wins the “Asia” category with his cookbook “Tohrus Japan”. In his recipes, he uses Japanese flavors with, among other things, German-inspired dishes.

The jury consists of 35 culinary experts who choose the winners from around 100 nominated books. We present the most important awards for bread, German cuisine, star cuisine and the Newcomer Prize in the following spread.
