Geretsried: alleged IS helper arrested – Bavaria


The federal prosecutor’s office arrested a woman in Bavaria who is said to have collected money for the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS). The woman, whose age was not disclosed, allegedly helped an Iraqi who had been in custody since the beginning of the year. According to earlier statements, the federal prosecutor’s office accuses him of having taken on “a central role for IS in raising money in Germany” and of having transferred money to Syria and Lebanon several times. At the end of April, she obtained her own arrest warrant against the man who was caught while attempting to leave the German-Swiss border.

The suspected Islamist who has now been arrested is said to have taken care of contact with IS women in particular. She is said to have set up a donation account for a woman who was to be freed from a Kurdish refugee camp. In the afternoon, the woman was brought before an investigating judge at the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in Karlsruhe, who executed the arrest warrant, as a spokesman for the Federal Prosecutor’s Office said on request. It is therefore certain that she will be held in custody.
