Gathering around the Pantheon in memory of the 100th and 101st victims

The emotion was palpable Tuesday evening around the Pantheon. Around a hundred people gathered in Paris at the call of the #NousToutes collective, in memory of the 100th and 101st victims of feminicides since the start of 2021.

In silence and in a collected atmosphere, the participants, mostly women, gathered for the most part with a candle. Those present formed a circle around 8 p.m., “to pay tribute to all those who were murdered and to denounce the government’s lack of commitment to effectively combat male violence,” according to a statement published in the afternoon. The activists dispersed shortly before 9 p.m.

“Dozens of demonstrations” to come

On Tuesday, the collective Feminicides by companion or ex had reported on Facebook of the 100th and 101st feminicides of the year 2021 in France. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 146 women were victims of feminicides, that is to say killed by their spouse or ex-spouse in 2019, and 102 in 2020.

Tuesday’s rally comes a few days before the International Day for Combating Violence Against Women, November 25. Around this deadline, between November 20 and 27, “dozens of demonstrations” are planned in the country, recalled #NousToutes.
