With the warmer temperatures, the barbecue season is heralded. But be careful: This example from Upper Bavaria shows that a charcoal grill has no place in closed rooms.

A total of ten people suffered carbon monoxide poisoning from the toxic gases from a grill in Upper Bavaria. After using it on the balcony in Waldkraiburg, a 44-year-old resident put the charcoal grill in the living room, the police said. You then closed the balcony door last night, whereupon toxic gases formed in the interior.

The woman, three family members, including a 14-year-old and an 18-year-old, and a rescue worker suffered severe carbon monoxide poisoning. Two neighbors and three other rescue workers were slightly injured. Paramedics took all ten people to the hospital. The police are now investigating the 44-year-old for negligent bodily harm.
