Garching draws up emergency plan for blackout – district of Munich

The city of Garching is taking the war in Ukraine and the increasingly insecure energy supply as an opportunity to draw up an emergency plan. Like other municipalities before it, the university town in the district of Munich has set up a crisis management team made up of experts from various departments in the town hall and from the two local volunteer fire brigades. Should there be a prolonged power failure, the people of Garching will in future have two fixed points of contact where they can obtain information and essential items: One of these so-called Kat lighthouses will be set up at the Garching West elementary school, a second at the Hochbrück elementary school. When the lighthouses are used, the city announces this via loudspeaker announcements, notices on the usual notice boards and – if possible – on the city’s homepage. In order to prepare for a possible emergency situation, the city of Garching recommends its citizens to create an emergency supply for two weeks.
