Gabby Petito case: 22-year-old was strangled, according to forensic medicine

In the summer, Gabby Petito and her fiancé Brian Laundrie had set off on a road trip through the United States – only he returned. Gabby’s body was found on September 19 in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, USA.

Gabby Petito disappeared while traveling across the United States with her boyfriend. Her body was eventually discovered in a Wyoming national park. Now the exact cause of death has been made public.

In the Gabby Petito case, the cause of death has been determined. The 22-year-old was strangled, said forensic doctor Brent Blue on Tuesday in the US state of Wyoming. The exact time of death is open. It is believed, however, that Petito was killed three to four weeks before her body was found. A few weeks ago, forensic medicine had declared that it had assumed a homicide in the case.

Investigators continue to search for Gabby’s boyfriend

The Gabby Petito case has attracted a great deal of attention in the United States and around the world. Petito and her 23-year-old boyfriend set off on a trip through the USA in the summer, which they documented on social networks. Petito’s boyfriend eventually returned from the trip without his girlfriend. Investigators were looking for the young woman. Her body was finally discovered in Wyoming in September. There is now no trace of her boyfriend – investigators are looking for him.

“We are only entrusted with determining the cause of death (…). Whoever committed the homicide is a matter for the law enforcement authorities,” said Blue. Images from a police officer’s body camera had emerged from the couple’s trip. The police stopped Petito and her boyfriend on suspicion of physical violence after an argument between the two.
