Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida actually has a lot of problems: drought, floods, swine fever. But he is turning the G7 meeting in Sicily into a patriotic show where none of this is to be noticed.
Francesco Lollobrigida likes to be the front man of Italian food culture. The Minister of Agriculture believes that his country is a role model worldwide in this area. “For us Italians, food is not just about nutrition, but also about quality,” says Lollobrigida in Rome. Here he is presenting his program for the meeting of agriculture ministers of the G7 countries in Syracuse on the east coast of Sicily. In order to demonstrate his claim to international leadership on this occasion, he had the island of Ortigia, the old town center of Syracuse, transformed into a showcase of Italian culinary culture.
