She abandoned her newborn baby immediately after it was born, and now a 19-year-old mother has been sentenced to one year suspended prison sentence for it. The young woman confessed at the trial and regretted the act very much, said the Fürth district court on Thursday. Due to the birth and the previous denial of the pregnancy, she was in an exceptional psychological situation.
The woman had given birth to the child in early June at night in a stairwell in Langenzenn (Fürth district) and immediately afterwards laid it wrapped in two blankets next to a monastery wall in a bush. A walker found the severely hypothermic child; it had to be artificially ventilated for eight days. According to the court, the baby finally survived the crime without consequences and is currently living healthy with foster parents. The woman was convicted of suspending the child with dangerous bodily harm.
According to the Fürth district court, the judgment had already been made last Thursday. On the same day, the arrest warrant against the 19-year-old, who had been in custody since the act, was lifted. The judgment is final.
