Christian Götz (BBV) and Andreas Lohde (CSU) move into the runoff. The BBV politician won the first round of the mayoral election on Sunday by a narrow margin. He received 3962 and 33.78 percent of the votes, with 3905 votes and 33.29 percent the CSU politician came in second place. This was followed by Markus Droth from the Free Voters (13.36 percent), Philipp Heimerl from the SPD (8.30 percent), Alexa Zierl from the ÖDP (5.77 percent) and Joe Kellerer from the party (5.49 percent). . Voter turnout was 43 percent.
On Sunday evening, around 200 visitors followed the projections in the town hall’s meeting room, including the five mayoral candidates, many current and former town councilors and Gröbenzell’s mayor, Martin Schäfer. The still incumbent Fürstenfeldbruck Mayor Erich Raff (CSU) will moderate. The start is very promising for the CSU. The first result projected onto the screen comes from Aich, which is of course also a CSU stronghold. Andreas Lohde’s black bar is huge, while Götz’s bar is almost puny in comparison. Zierl does not get a vote in Aich, Kellerer at least 16 – with whom he is completely satisfied there, as he says. The picture changes over the course of the 32 reports, which are taken into account step by step. And it quickly becomes clear that it will be a real neck-and-neck race between Lohde and Götz. The leadership changes several times. All other candidates and the candidate, it quickly becomes clear, are clearly behind. The entourage that accompanied Kellerer and distributed free beer in the meeting room cheered when two-thirds of the polling stations were counted and Alexa Zierl and Joe Kellerer each received exactly 5.53 percent of the votes. Again, a head-to-head race.

Lohde agrees. In his result, he still sees “a good basis” to win the OB runoff in the end. Now it is important to mobilize everyone who did not vote this time in the remaining two weeks. It was no surprise to him that it was close.

According to his own statement, the very good result for Christian Götz came as a surprise. He didn’t expect “it to go so well – I’m very satisfied”. The BBV will put up posters again, Götz then counts on good chances for the run-off election.
Joe Kellerer is the only one who already makes a recommendation
It will be decisive who the voters of the defeated candidates then support. So far there are no clear recommendations. There is already a trend, says Markus Droth, but the board will only make a definitive decision at its meeting this Monday evening. Droth had “personally expected a little more”, but the result for a candidate from the Free Voters was good and he was by no means “absolutely disappointed”. The BBV in particular probably benefited from the fact that the Greens did not enter their own candidate.
Philipp Heimerl is disappointed, for whom by his own admission the chapter of mayoral candidate is over. The local association will shortly talk about an election recommendation. A similar picture at the ÖDP, which, according to Zierl, now wants to see which candidate is making the most progress in climate protection. She was “totally satisfied” with her result. So is Joe Kellerer, even if he misses his goal of finishing in front of Zierl. After all, he did better than Florian Weber, who got 3.2 percent of the votes for the party in 2017. Only Kellerer makes an election recommendation on Sunday: for Götz.
