The 2022 Oscar nominations were revealed on Tuesday. Another observation: platform films dominate the best actor and best actress categories. For men Javier Bardem (Being The Ricardos/Amazon Prime Video), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog/Netflix), Andrew Garfield (Tick, tick…BOOM! /Netflix), Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth/Apple TV) and Will Smith (The Williams Method/HBO Max). In women, Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) and Penelope Cruz (Madres Paralelas) are nominated for films theatrically released across the Atlantic, but Nicole Kidman (Being The Ricardos) and Kristen Stewart (spencer) are for Amazon Prime Video productions. Olivia Colman, she is for The Lost Daughter (Netflix).
Non-English speaking talents
The 2020 edition of the Oscars and the raid of Parasite are still fresh in our memories.
