There are two major reasons for the debate that Markus Lanz experienced on Tuesday, and unfortunately, firstly, they both have to do with numbers – and secondly, they may not have as much to do with each other as is assumed in the course of the show. The Federal Statistical Office named the first cause, the one with the particularly large number of numbers, a good month ago.
