The Fridays For Future (FFF) movement is calling for a climate strike in several Bavarian cities. Under the motto #NowForFuture, the activists are demanding that the federal government quickly phase out coal, oil and gas and end investments in new fossil fuel projects.
According to the organizers, actions are planned for Friday in several Bavarian cities, including Augsburg, Würzburg and Kempten. Climate strikes have also been announced in smaller cities such as Dorfen in Upper Bavaria or Amberg in Upper Palatinate.
According to the police, around 3,000 participants have been registered by the organizer in Munich. Climate strikes have also been announced in Middle Franconia, with 500 participants in Erlangen and 200 participants in Fürth.
The demonstrations are part of an international day of action. As part of the so-called global climate strike, FFF is calling for protests worldwide on Friday. In Germany alone, demonstrations are reportedly planned in more than 100 cities.
