On the desk of real estate mogul Donald Trump, his longtime assistant Rhona Graff recently told the Attorney General of New York State, there were always two letter trays. Day in and day out, the inbox on the left was filled with letters, draft contracts, appraisals, newspaper articles and printed emails, which Trump sift through, often affixed to small yellow slips of paper and filed in the outbox on the right-hand side. Once an employee had completed the boss’s handwritten order, the note went into the trash can. There were mostly no electronic records, and all traces were erased – intentionally or not.
