“2022 – The Quiz” offered a lot of guessing fun again this year with Barbara Schöneberger, Günther Jauch, Florian Silbereisen and Jan-Josef Liefers. But even though the candidates gave each other nothing, lashed out at each other verbally and had to prove their stamina in the games: Presenter Frank Plasberg provided the most emotional moment of the evening. Because he was moderating the show for the last time, his guests had come up with something very special for him. And in the end, the otherwise calm journalist had to struggle for composure.

For a moment, even the aim of the show took a back seat. The four celebrities played “2022 – The Quiz” for money that they wanted to donate to a good cause. After several rounds of quizzes and games, Florian Silbereisen finally prevailed. The hit star won the last game and ended up with 18,500 euros – by far the highest amount that was earned that day. But despite the many touching stories of this year that the four guests and the presenter looked back on, the most emotional moment only came when the main part of the show was already over.

“2022 – The Quiz”: farewell serenade for Plasberg

Because Schöneberger, Jauch, Liefers and Silbereisen naturally didn’t want to just let Plasberg go in his last “Das Quiz” edition. First, the four gave their host a yellow raincoat, which over the years had become something of an unofficial symbol of the show. Then they sang a version of “Who turned the clock?” for him, which ended with the sentence “With Frank it’s over for today”.

Even then, Plasberg was visibly fighting back tears. When he then added a clip with the highlights of the quiz was presented at the end of the year, his wife Anne Gesthuysen, who was sitting in the audience, also became emotional. Plasberg’s resolution not to cry was visibly harder for him.

When Bonnie Tyler sang “It’s a heartache” as a surprise guest in the studio at the end, Plasberg was finally over. He hugged the singer for a long time and confessed that he had to cry after all:

“I didn’t want to cry but now it happened.”

Rarely has the otherwise controlled presenter been so emotional.

Is Plasberg already announcing a comeback?

And Plasberg then had touching last words for his audience and guests. “You made my life. I do that once a year now, I don’t want to go down there anymore,” he said before wiping his face with his sleeve. In his ears fans That might sound like a comeback announcement – similar to Thomas Gottschalk and his annual return with “Wetten, dass..?”.
