Frank Lampard is apparently canceling Newcastle, is Paulo Fonseca coming now?

Newcastle United recently split from Steve Bruce. The new coach could now be Paulo Fonseca, Frank Lampard apparently canceled.

After the departure of coach Steve Bruce, Newcastle United is looking for a successor. Apparently a surprise is looming. Again Mirror reports, Paulo Fonseca is the top favorite to coach after former Chelsea coach Frank Lampard is said to have decided not to join the Magpies.

Lampard was actually shareholder Jamie Reuben’s favorite, but the former England international does not seem to trust the club, which is currently second to last in the table, to remain in the Premier League.

Shareholder Amanda Staveley, on the other hand, wants to sign Fonseca for an annual salary of around seven million euros, according to information from Guardian the talks should be well advanced.

The 48-year-old Portuguese coached AS Roma in the Italian Serie A from 2019 to 2021. Fonseca, who previously won three consecutive Ukrainian champions with Shachtjor Donetsk, has been without a club this summer.

Newcastle United: Favre and Gerrard were also traded

Next to Fonseca were also the ex-BVB coach Lucien Favre and the current Rangers coach Steven Gerrard acted as a potential successor to Bruce after he left his position as team manager by “mutual agreement” on Wednesday.

A consortium that is largely controlled by the Saudi Arabian state fund under the control of the highly controversial Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, last took over Newcastle for the equivalent of around 350 million euros. The Premier League waved the deal through despite vehement criticism from human rights organizations.
