Several children were injured in a knife attack in a park here in Annecy, France, not far from the Swiss border on Thursday. According to the police, the children are all around three years old. A total of nine people were wounded, including an adult. Three children are in a life-threatening condition. President Emmanuel Macron wrote on Twitter that the nation was in shock. It was an “absolutely cowardly act”. The attacker had been arrested, the Ministry of the Interior also announced on Twitter on Thursday. In the French Parliament, MEPs stood up for a minute’s silence. Shortly after the crime, the police stated that the alleged perpetrator was a Syrian citizen and was legally residing in France as a refugee.
