Four events to quench your thirst for electro this summer


Nightclubs closed, festivals canceled… The last few months have been tough for the electro scene. But this summer should be one of rebirth. 20 minutes has selected four events, around Montpellier (Hérault), to satisfy your thirst for electronic music. Note, for some, a health pass is necessary: ​​a complete vaccination, an immunity certificate or a negative test.

The Tropism Hall

This summer, the Tropism hall, a true haven of Montpellier culture, offers many musical evenings with DJs. The next few days will be particularly busy: as part of the United States of Africa festival, the webradio Pinata will offer this Wednesday (7 p.m.) a set around Egypt, between traditional and electronic music, and the musician, DJ and Mansamat record collector will provide a set with African sounds on Thursday (7 p.m.).

Saturday (6 p.m.), Guedra Guedra and Aziz Konkrite will be at the helm of a Casablanca Sound System evening. Sunday (from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.), heading, always, on the Mediterranean, with the artists Kabylie Minogue and Az Iz on the decks. Also note, on July 14 and 28 (6 p.m.), the Tropisme hall will welcome other guests selected by radio Pinata, Egregore Collective and Hotel Radio Paris.

Free. No health pass.

Martin Solveig

Lunel hits hard this summer. Famous French DJ Martin Solveig will open the Pescalune, July 13 (10 p.m.), in front of nearly 6,000 spectators, July 13 (10 p.m.). It will be one of his first dates in France since the resumption of concerts. The set will take place in the brand new arenas in the city. Note, electro lovers also have an appointment on September 12: the
Lunel Ose Festival will host a Panorama evening, in a more intimate format, on the terrace of the arenas (11:30 am), with several DJs, which have not yet been revealed.

Family Piknik

The Montpellier electronic music festival Family Piknik celebrates its 10th anniversary this summer. The revelers have an appointment on August 7 and 8 (from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.) at the Domaine de Grammont, for nearly 30 hours of techno, house, deep or progressive music in the open air. On the decks, in particular, on the first day, the Ukrainians Artbat, “the new duo rising from the underground scene, which has not played much in France”, rejoices Ludovic Rambaud, organizer of Family Piknik. And the next day, the Swede Adam Beyer, who has never been to Family Piknik and the Belgian Charlotte de Witte, “the most famous female DJ among techno lovers, a real icon”.

And as since its creation, the festival is “kid friendly”: entertainment areas for children will be available for those who come with the family. And if a month of waiting is too much for you, know that as an aperitif, a live concert is organized on July 18 (from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.), in the same place, notably with Worakls , Mathame, and the multi-instrumentalist with millions of listeners Monolink.

From 25 to 30 euros for July 18, 40 to 50 euros (or 60 to 70 euros for two days) for August 7 and 8. Health pass required. Tests will also be offered on site.

Tohu Bohu, the ultra-popular summer electro event, organized by the Radio France festival, is back on July 26, 27 and 28 (9 p.m.). The configuration changes: no dance floor on the town hall square, Tohu Bohu will be lived seated, on the stands of the O amphitheater, in the O domain. “But we will not prevent anyone from getting up from their seat,” says Jean-Pierre Rousseau, the director of the festival. On the bill are Fabrizio Rat, Etienne Jaumet, James S. Taylor and Ced ‘O’Coriolis on the first night, Garfld and Mezerg on the second and Myd Live Band, Tom Manzarek and Og Maxwell on the third.

From 10 to 20 euros, for the purchase of a pass which gives access to more than 60 concerts of the Radio France festival, including those of Tohu Bohu. No health pass.
