Ticket revolution in football? At Fortuna Düsseldorf, fans could soon go to the stadium without paying admission. The club wants to present its strategic reorientation.

The concept of second division soccer team Fortuna Düsseldorf for free entry for spectators to their games is being eagerly awaited. According to media reports, the Rhenish club wants to present details of the revolutionary plan.

Fortuna Düsseldorf should plan free stadium entry

The association has officially invited the board of directors, the head of the supervisory board and the mayor to a press conference at 2:30 p.m. to present its “new strategic orientation”, without giving any details.

What should the plan look like?

In the coming 2023/24 season, Fortuna initially wants to give away tickets for three games free of charge, as the “Rheinische Post” and the “Bild” reported unanimously. This is to be made possible by sponsors.

The “Bild” reported that the club had already concluded five-year contracts with several companies. Should participation increase, entry could become free for all home games in the medium term.

Who comes to the stadium?

According to reports, guest fans should no longer pay for the ticket either. Members should therefore have priority when purchasing tickets, and season ticket holders will receive their tickets for the coming season safely. According to reports, packages in the VIP area will continue to be sold.

What is still open?

At the press conference, among other things, answers are expected as to which companies are involved in the project. It is not yet publicly known how the tickets will be distributed to which viewers. “Tomorrow will be an exciting day,” the club wrote on Twitter late Tuesday evening.

What is the current situation at Fortuna?

Düsseldorf is currently in fifth place in the 2nd Bundesliga with an average attendance of 29,378. The arena was last sold out at the end of March against Hamburger SV with 51,200 spectators. In terms of sport, promotion is no longer realistic with nine points behind HSV and relegation place three with five games left.
