Placed in police custody on Wednesday, the former director of Sdis de l’Isère was indicted this Friday for “involuntary manslaughter” and “moral harassment”, indicates the Grenoble prosecutor’s office, confirming a information from Dauphiné Libéré. The head doctor of the same department was also indicted for the same facts.
An investigation was opened after the suicide of Corporal Minard, who ended his life in February 2021, following a long depression. The inter-union brought the case to criminal proceedings, considering that their colleague had suffered intense pressure, in particular because of his union commitments.
A “direct link” between his depression and his working conditions
Neither of the two indicted is, however, subject to judicial control measures. Searches took place at the beginning of the week in the Sdis premises and at the barracks in which the firefighter worked.
In 2022, the Grenoble administrative court found that there was “a direct link between the illness” of the firefighter and “the service” in which he worked.
