Former international Jean-Pierre Adams, in a coma since 1982, has died

He had trained for four years, between 1972 and 1976, the formidable central hinge of the France team nicknamed “the black guard” with Marius Trésor, before losing his place in the selection with the arrival of Michel Hidalgo. Jean-Pierre Adams (22 caps) died at the CHU de Nîmes at the age of 73.

The former player of Nîmes, Nice, and PSG had been in a deep coma since March 1982 because of a dosage error during anesthesia, before a trivial operation following a knee injury suffered with his Mulhouse club. His wife Bernadette had always kept him close, hoping for “a medical miracle” that never happened.
