8:50 am: The main stages of the trial

The president of the specially composed Assize Court, Jean-Louis Périès, must declare the debates open on Wednesday September 8 at 12:30 p.m. Due to the large number of victims, the court will first and for two days appeal the nearly 1,800 civil parties formed, before calling more than a hundred witnesses. The president will read his report on the third day, summarizing the 500 or so volumes of the dossier. The first witnesses are expected to take the stand from Monday, September 13.

After this general presentation, the court must hear from September 28 and for five weeks the testimonies of the survivors and relatives of the victims of the attacks, which left 130 dead and hundreds wounded in Saint-Denis and Paris.

At the end of these hearings, the court will question for the first time the 14 defendants present on their personality and their background, without evoking the facts at this stage.

Former President of the Republic François Hollande is expected to testify on November 10 at the courthouse, then Bernard Cazeneuve a few days later. From mid-November, the debates will give a large place to French and Belgian investigators, in several phases.

Will Salah Abdeslam speak? It will be necessary to wait for his first interrogation on the facts, scheduled for January 13 and 14, 2022. The interrogations of the other defendants will follow, in February and March 2022.

The first pleadings will take place in early April, and the indictment of the national anti-terrorism prosecution is scheduled for May 2 to 5. The defense will have the floor from May 6 to 23. The reading of the deliberations is scheduled for May 24 and 25, 2022.
