FO, the first union of metro drivers, demands the maintenance of Jean Castex

Strong support for a renewal. The FO-RATP union called on Wednesday for stability at the head of the public transport group, while the future of its CEO Jean Castex, proposed by Emmanuel Macron for a second term, seems uncertain since the dissolution of the Assembly national.

“After several years of shortages both in terms of social dialogue and the recognition of our professions, we have succeeded with the current CEO in restoring responsible social dialogue for the good of employees and the company,” wrote in an FO press release, first union among metro drivers.

Castex still in office during the Olympic Games

Jean Castex, appointed to RATP in November 2022, sees his mandate end on July 22. On June 3, Emmanuel Macron proposed his name for a second term, but his appointment must be confirmed by the competent committees of the National Assembly and the Senate. But the dissolution makes this renewal uncertain.

During the inauguration of the extension of line 11 on June 13, Jean Castex recognized that it was “very unlikely” that the new assembly would have time to hear it before July 22.

“I think there are interim procedures,” he said, assuring that he would be at the head of the group during the Olympic Games which begin on July 26 with the opening ceremony.
