Floyd Mayweather Assaulted in London: Was His Support for Israel a Factor?

A viral video from December 10 shows boxing champion Floyd Mayweather being pursued by a crowd while shopping in London. Eyewitnesses reported a confrontation stemming from Mayweather’s support for Israel, leading to a chaotic scene. Although he faced minor hits, his security successfully evacuated him. Mayweather later denied any physical altercation, attributing the incident to jealousy and false narratives, while emphasizing his ongoing support for the Jewish community and Israel.

The Incident That Captured Attention

The story began with a viral video that took social media by storm on Tuesday, December 10. In this brief clip, we see the legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather, known for his flawless record of 50 wins—27 of which are by knockout—being pursued by a group of individuals during a shopping excursion in central London.

While browsing a jewelry store in the prestigious Hatton Garden district, ‘Money’ found himself surrounded by a crowd demanding his swift departure. Fortunately, his bodyguards successfully escorted him to a waiting 4×4 outside the shop.

Eyewitness Accounts and Reactions

An eyewitness recounted the chaotic scene to The Sun, stating, “There were perhaps 8 to 10 people chasing him, with around 20 or 25 onlookers. Mayweather’s security team was clearly outnumbered.” According to this source, the altercation stemmed from Mayweather’s comments regarding his support for Israel. “Someone confronted him about his stance on Israel, to which he responded that he was proud to support the Jewish community. That seemed to provoke someone to throw a punch.”

The eyewitness added, “Numerous individuals were attempting to strike him and push his bodyguards away.” He noted that Floyd sustained minor hits during the ordeal while his guards worked to create distance between him and the aggressors. Ultimately, they managed to get him into a vehicle, tapping twice on the roof before speeding away from the scene. It was evident that they were eager to escape the situation.”

In response to the incident, Floyd Mayweather took to Instagram to refute the claims of any physical confrontation, stating, “Let me clarify… there is no truth to the circulating rumors. What you witnessed was merely my security ensuring the situation remained under control. I was in the UK for a brief 48-hour shopping trip, and unfortunately, jealousy and negativity have led to false narratives. I am perfectly fine, and there is nothing more to add.” A source close to Mayweather mentioned that the crowd allegedly directed racist insults at him during the encounter.

While the reasons behind the altercation remain unverified, Floyd Mayweather’s public support for Israel is well-known. He was among the first celebrities to visit Israel following the attacks on October 7, 2023. Recently, he organized a barbecue with IDF troops at a military base and was invited by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a private discussion on Israel’s history. Just last weekend, he announced the creation of a charitable initiative aimed at providing birthday gifts to Israeli orphans.
