Fire on a Seveso classified site in Bezons, in the Parisian suburbs

A fire is underway Thursday morning on an industrial site classified Seveso in Bezons (Val-d’Oise), in the Paris suburbs, AFP learned from local authorities, without evacuation or victims identified immediately.

Photos of witnesses posted on social networks show a large column of black smoke visible for several kilometers around in the west of the Paris region and even from the capital. “Firefighters are assessing the situation. The services of the prefecture are watching, ”the Val-d’Oise prefecture told AFP in the middle of the morning.

No evacuation is in progress

The fire broke out in a metal treatment and coating plant owned by the Protec company, specializing in the treatment of surfaces, a place classified as “Seveso low threshold”. No evacuation is underway, said police, who were unaware of any casualties in the state. The circumstances of the fire are immediately unknown.
