On Saturday evening, five people were injured in a fire in an apartment building at the intersection of Auerfeldstrasse and Balanstrasse. The fire department was called around 10 p.m. and quickly extinguished the fire.

There was a lot of smoke in the entire stairwell, causing five residents to be slightly injured and treated on an outpatient basis because they had inhaled the smoke. Some of the plaster was peeling off the walls, an indication of a great deal of heat, a police spokesman said. There was property damage that could be in the six figures, according to estimates by the fire department.

The police, who came to the scene of the fire with several patrol cars, found during the investigation that a stroller parked in the stairwell had caught fire. There was a similar case, also with a burning pram, at the end of December in Berg am Laim. The police are assuming intentional arson.
