It is one of the largest squats in Toulouse, opened just after the fire at the squat on Avenue de Muret in 2020. Since 6 a.m. this morning, a building in Mirail which accommodates many homeless people has been in prey to flames.
About fifty firefighters of the departmental fire and rescue service, armed with three lances, are present to circumscribe the fire of this building located rue Babinet. When they arrived, they took care of around sixty people, including six with minor injuries.
This squat has housed up to 250 people in recent years, mostly residents of Avenue de Muret who were seeking refuge after the fire at the previous squat. It was the scene of a violent brawl last year which ended in the death of a person in his twenties, who died after being stabbed.
