Fact of the day
The fire at a large oil terminal in Feodosia on the Crimean peninsula is over. It had been burning for six days after an attack claimed by Ukraine. Firefighters are now reportedly working to “cool” the fuel tanks damaged during this major disaster.
If the Russian authorities did not indicate the cause of the fire, they also did not deny the announcement from Ukraine, which declared having struck the terminal with missiles.
More than 1,100 people had been evacuated from the surrounding area since the start of the week.
In response to Russian bombings for more than two and a half years on its infrastructure and cities, Ukraine is increasing attacks on Russian energy sites in order to disrupt the logistics of Moscow’s army.

Today’s statement
“ I will spend the rest of my life in prison and die here. »
Vladimir Putin’s number 1 opponent, Alexeï Navalny, is said to have written this quote two years before his death in a Russian jail in February.
“There will be no one to say goodbye to […] All birthdays will be celebrated without me. I will never see my grandchildren. I will not be the subject of any family history. I will not be in any photos,” adds Alexeï Navalny on March 22, 2022, in this prison newspaper, extracts of which were published Friday and Saturday by The New Yorker magazine and the Times of London. Navalny’s posthumous memoirs are due to be released worldwide on October 22.
The trend
In recent weeks, Russia has stepped up investigations against foreign journalists accused of having entered their territory.
On Friday, a Russian court ordered the arrest of a journalist from the American channel CNN, currently outside Russia. He is accused of having “illegally crossed” the border from Ukraine to produce a report in the Kursk region, partially occupied by the Ukrainian army.
His name, Paton Walsh, was placed on the “wanted list”.
