Fien storm tracking: 181 km/h wind in Corsica, blizzard in the Pyrenees

In the center and east of the country, Auvergne, Rhône-Alpes, it is calm with a few more snowflakes in the valleys north of the Alps. On the other hand, the situation is deteriorating from the Center Val de Loire to Burgundy where it is snowing lightly to the plain.

In the north and east, it’s the snow that makes the news. From the hills of Perche to the Loire Valley to the north of Rhône-Alpes, it snows all the way to the plain. In the mountains, the west of the Pyrenees has suffered a blizzard with 70 cm of fresh snow at Pierre Saint Martin (64) and 50 cm at La Mongie (65) since Monday morning.

On the Massif Central, it continues to snow from 500 meters with 30 cm on the ground recorded at 1100 meters in Cantal. These snowfalls reach the alpine valleys due to temperatures close to 0°C from Annecy to Grenoble.

At 21h, the rains continue and strengthen south of the Garonne, from the Aquitaine basin to the Pyrenees, with intensities of 1 to 4 mm / h. The waterways are reacting.

It is snowing heavily in the Pyrenees. Access to ski resorts becomes complicated, especially as the strong wind forms snowdrifts from an altitude of 1,200 metres.
