Feuchtwangen – construction workers demand higher wages – Bavaria

Several hundred construction workers demonstrated in Feuchtwangen on Saturday for better working conditions and higher wages. Despite the pandemic, work on the construction site is in full swing, said IG Bau regional manager Hans Beer in advance. The employees should be involved in the success of the company. IG Bau is demanding a wage increase of 5.3 percent from construction employers, compensation for travel times and an adjustment of the east pay to the west tariffs.

“Instead of short-time work and home office, weekend work and overtime are the order of the day for construction workers. With their efforts, they ensure that urgently needed living space is created, traffic routes work and that the economy is stabilized in times of the Corona crisis,” said Beer. Bavaria’s SPD chairman Ronja Endres emphasized: “Our task as a politician is to put more people under the protection of proper collective agreements.” Bavaria is the only state without tariff loyalty and awarding law.
