The twin festivals Rock am Ring and Rock im Park are among the biggest music events in Germany. So far, the weather in Nuremberg and at the Nürburgring has been good.

With the best summer weather, the music festival Rock im Park in Nuremberg continues on Saturday. The emergency services say they are preparing for what is expected to be the warmest day of the festival weekend. Tens of thousands of music fans will be partying in front of the three stages until Sunday. Around 70 bands will be performing.

In terms of the operations, Rock im Park has been quieter than last year, said Sohrab Taheri-Sohi of the Bavarian Red Cross. “Fortunately, there have been no serious illnesses or injuries so far.” People not only celebrated peacefully, but also more cautiously. Of the more than 700 people who were called for help, only 22 were because of alcohol.

Many of the paramedics had been involved in flood operations in Bavaria before the festival. “That is still in the minds of the visitors,” says Taheri-Sohi. The emergency services experienced great gratitude and respect and received a lot of applause.

On Saturday, the crossover band H-Blockx played the opening act on the main stage. 30 years ago, they topped the charts for weeks with their debut album – and are celebrating this anniversary with a tour. The last time the band was on stage was 14 years ago at Rock im Park: “You are the best antidepressant for rock’n’roll pensioners,” shouted singer Henning Wehland to the dancing audience.

Later, the Austrian rock band Wanda, the rap-rock band Kraftclub and the glam rockers Måneskin, who won the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, were among those scheduled to perform.

The Rock am Ring music festival at the Nürburgring will enter its second round on Saturday with concerts by the bands Green Day and Billy Talent. People in the Eifel can also look forward to good weather on the second day of the festival. The German Weather Service predicted mostly clear to sunny weather for Saturday. With maximum temperatures between 20 and 26 degrees, it should stay dry in Rhineland-Palatinate.
