The elections for the Berlin House of Representatives, which were rescheduled after various mishaps, as well as the district elections can take place on February 12 as planned. The constitutional judges dismissed several urgent applications.

The re-election to the Berlin House of Representatives can take place as planned on February 12. In summary proceedings, the Federal Constitutional Court refused to order a postponement of the vote at short notice. This was announced by the judges in Karlsruhe.

The Constitutional Court of the State of Berlin decided on November 16, 2022 that the elections in Berlin had to be repeated completely because numerous errors had occurred. On the other hand, both MPs and citizens had lodged a constitutional complaint in Karlsruhe.

At the same time, they made urgent requests to stop the complete redial. However, the exact examination of whether the complete repetition of the breakdown election of 2021 is constitutional is still pending and will only take place afterwards.
