Hainer trusts Nagelsmann – support from Kimmich

President Hainer expects Julian Nagelsmann to find “the right solutions” at Bayern Munich, like he did in the fall. Joshua Kimmich urges hard work. Uli Hoeneß also makes a claim.
Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer is convinced that coach Julian Nagelsmann will get the German champions back on the road to success after the bad start to the new football year.
“FC Bayern’s claim is much higher,” said Hainer after three consecutive 1-1 draws in the Bundesliga. “But we will get there again. Julian Nagelsmann also found the right solutions in the fall,” the club boss recalled, according to the Munich media, of the series of even four winless Bundesliga games during the first half of the season. Before the long World Cup break, Bayern won ten competitive games in a row.
Hainer (68) commented on the sporting situation at the Bundesliga table leader on the sidelines of a reminder appointment during the Nazi era in Munich. He believes that the sporting turnaround is only a matter of time: “The team played outstanding, excellent, inspiring football before the winter break. It’s the same players who can do it! I’m convinced that they’ll come back.”
World Cup break at Bayern
CEO Oliver Kahn (53) spoke of a World Cup break at Bayern after the next 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend. Midfielder Joshua Kimmich sees it similarly, who also commented after the game: “Before the World Cup we had a great run, we played completely different football there.” You have to come back there. “We have to work a lot to make it better,” said Kimmich.
He doesn’t doubt Nagelsmann either. “It’s not up to the coach. In the end, we players are responsible for performance and intensity on the pitch. The guidelines, the coach’s solutions are there. And we players have to implement them,” said the 27-year-old. Nagelsmann himself had announced “a tough analysis” of the team’s performance at the weekend.
Important cup game
On Wednesday (8.45 p.m.) Bayern have to play Bundesliga competitor FSV Mainz 05 in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup. “It’s clear that we have to win. We have to act differently,” warned Kimmich.
Honorary President Uli Honess (71) also made an announcement to the Munich pros via “Kicker” (Monday): “I’m disappointed with the team’s performance in the first three games. I expect a significant increase in terms of the goals, that we want to achieve.” The round of 16 first leg against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League is only two weeks away. Before the trip to France, Bayern can still gain momentum in three competitive games – Mainz are followed by the league games in Wolfsburg and against Bochum.
