Last week, the open world shooter series from Ubisoft went into its next round with “Far Cry 6”.
The shooter was well received by the international trade press and achieved an average rating of between 75 and 80 percent on the Metacritic online platform, depending on the platform. In order to make “Far Cry 6” tasty again, Ubisoft provided the official Accolades trailer in addition to the release of the open-world adventure. In addition to selected scenes from the game, this includes positive quotes from the international press and, as usual, is available for viewing below these lines.
Animal rights activists criticize the cockfighting
At the same time as the release of the Accolades trailer for “Far Cry 6”, however, the developers at Ubisoft also have to accept criticism. This time from PETA or the Latin American branch of the animal welfare organization. In an official statement, she turned to those responsible at Ubisoft and criticized the cockfights, which are staged as a mini-game in “Far Cry 6” and are repeatedly heatedly criticized in reality.
In the real world, roosters are provided with razor-sharp blades and let loose on each other in a kind of arena, whereby the organizers of the cockfights take advantage of the cocks’ aggressive urge to assert themselves against their conspecifics. As a rule, these fights are not only fatal for the loser. Even the rooster that emerges “victorious” from the fight often suffers serious injuries.

Therefore, according to the animal rights activists at PETA, it is anything but appropriate to transfer these bloody fights between the animals into a video game in the form of a “Mortal Kombat-like mini-game”.
