James Cameron is currently attracting many people to the cinemas with the second part of his science fiction adventure series. Now the director gives insights into the successor.

Canadian director James Cameron has revealed the details of the next film in his Avatar series. “You will get to know two completely new cultures in the next film,” the 68-year-old told the industry journal Deadline on the sidelines of the “Critics Choice Awards” in Los Angeles. Fire will also play an important role. It also visits new locations in Pandora, Cameron said.

With “Avatar – Aufbruch nach Pandora” (2009) Cameron created the most financially successful film in history. Global revenue was $2.8 billion. In 2017, Cameron began working on four more “Avatar” films simultaneously. The second part was released in cinemas in mid-December, with further parts to follow in 2024, 2026 and 2028.

According to the industry association HDF Kino, more than 6.7 million tickets have been sold in Germany for the second part, “Avatar: The Way of Water” (as of January 11).
