Family flees poison gas – which cleaning products you should never mix

Watch the video: Family flees poison gas – which cleaning products you should never mix.

Tiktokerin Samantha from the USA made the big mistake and mixed two cleaning products together. The result: toxic chlorine gas is produced and the family has to isolate themselves in another room. In the video you will learn which substances you should never mix with each other.

Tiktokerin Samantha from the USA wants to clean the kitchen and “accidentally” mixed two cleaning agents that shouldn’t be mixed.

In her video, which has already been viewed more than 21.5 million times, she writes:
“I accidentally cleaned the kitchen with bleach and vinegar and now we’re all stuck in the same room on the phone to poison control.”

What seems funny has a serious background: the combination of the two solutions creates chlorine gas, which in high concentrations can be fatal if inhaled.

Many users are surprised, but mixing cleaning solutions incorrectly is not an isolated case.

According to the annual report of the US National Poison Data System, there were 4,800 single substance exposures to chlorine gas reported in poison centers.

So never mix an acidic cleaner like vinegar, toilet cleaner, citric acid or descaler with a chlorine cleaner. The cleaners can even react with each other in the air. Therefore, rooms in which both cleaners are used should always be well ventilated.

When exposed to chlorine gas, it irritates the respiratory tract and can cause permanent damage.

Usual symptoms are cough; irritation or burning in nose, eyes and throat; difficulty breathing; a tight feeling in the chest; watery eyes; and nausea or vomiting.

The severity of symptoms depends on how long you have been exposed to the gas, as well as ventilation.

In severe and very rare cases, fluid can also build up in the lungs, which can be fatal.
