Exhibition at the Center Pompidou over 100 years of surrealism: filled with magic – culture

The line of people, several hundred meters long, in front of the Pompidou cultural center in Paris is slowly creeping towards the security check, and woe betide anyone who has not previously purchased an entry ticket online. A second queue of people lurks upstairs on the fourth floor, then we go through a hell gate with black slats into a dark corridor, photographs of mostly men in suits on the walls, many of them making faces. The surrealists pay their respects. But they seem less like the revolutionaries and rebels that they once perceived themselves to be and more like a nostalgic-looking troupe of carnival entertainers.
