Targeted by a parliamentary inquiry, the former head of government is accused of misleading the House of Commons.

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has decided to step down as an MP with immediate effect, triggering a by-election for his seat. For the past few months, Boris Johnson has been the target of a parliamentary inquiry aimed at determining whether he misled the House of Commons when he declared that all the rules of Covid had been respected, in the Partygate affair.

As a reminder, parties were held in Downing Street in violation of health restrictions linked to the pandemic. “It is very sad to leave Parliament at least for nowsaid Boris Johnson in a statement. “I am kicked out by a small handful of people, with no evidence to back up their claims, and without the approval of even members of the Conservative party let alone the wider electorate.»
