Again and again, Marcus Lamb spoke out against the corona vaccination. Opponents of vaccinations and conspiracy theorists had their say on his television station. Now the US preacher has died after suffering from Covid.
The American television preacher Marcus Lamb is dead. He died last Tuesday at the age of 64. Lamb is the founder of the Texas-based evangelical broadcaster “Daystar Television Network” and was a staunch opponent of vaccinations. He was 64 years old.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Marcus Lamb, President and Founder of Daystar Television Network, has gone home to be with the Lord,” the broadcaster tweeted.
His wife Joni Lamb announced on a show on the station that her husband had been admitted to a clinic after contracting the corona virus. He had diabetes but was otherwise perfectly healthy.
Pray instead of vaccination
Lamb’s TV company, the second largest Christian media group according to “CBN News”, had made a name for itself as an advocate for vaccine refusers during the pandemic. In Lamb’s programs, vaccination skeptics were regularly heard, who also made use of conspiracy theories.
Lamb recommended that his viewers pray instead of a vaccination. On a broadcast earlier this year, the evangelist described the vaccines as “experimental injections” that were “dangerous”. People would die from the vaccinations or suffer neurological damage. The quota of white US evangelicals who refuse to be vaccinated is significantly higher than in other religious communities.
Tributes to numerous evangelicals
Lambs Daystar TV, based in Dallas, can be received worldwide. Classic topics are good and bad, miraculous healing and freedom of religion. Lamb’s remittance of around four million US dollars in 2020 that he received from the government’s program for companies in distress in the pandemic attracted attention. Two weeks after receiving the money from the relief fund, Lamb had bought a jet.
Numerous prominent US evangelicals paid tribute to Lamb – without going into his anti-vaccination campaign. He preached about heaven, taught about heaven, “and now he’s experiencing heaven,” tweeted Franklin Graham, son of evangelical icon Billy Graham.
