Some seriously ill people want to die. However, they have so far been denied access to deadly drugs. A discussion paper by the Leopoldina National Academy has come up with suggestions on how this can be changed.

There is a right to die. And this includes the freedom to use third parties for this. The Federal Constitutional Court ruled in February 2020. The judges ruled that the desire of people to want to die should be accepted as an act of autonomous self-determination by the state and society. And that is why these people have a right to drugs that enable painless suicide.
