Eurovision Song Contest: Voting on the German ESC contribution begins

Status: 02/28/2022 12:02 p.m

Who is driving for Germany to the Eurovision Song Contest 2022? The fans now have this question in their hands. You can vote online for the six posts.

About two and a half months before the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), voting started on who should take part for Germany. The fans can choose between six contributions – two singers and two groups – which have been previously selected by a jury of experts. Voting is done on the Internet on the pages of the nine ARD pop waves.

Final on May 14th in Turin

Online voting accounts for half of the decision. The other half comes about through a vote by the audience of an ESC television show on Friday.

Germany will then take part in the ESC in Turin on May 14 with the winning entry. Last year, the Italian band Maneskin won the ESC, so this time Italy is the host country. Russia is not allowed to participate in the ESC because of the invasion of Ukraine.

With the exception of Michael Schulte’s fourth place in 2018, Germany has not been able to achieve good rankings at the ESC in recent years. Germany has only won the ESC twice so far: in 1982 with Nicole’s “A Little Peace” and in 2010 with Lena Meyer-Landrut’s “Satellite”.
