The least we can say is that Gareth Southgate lacked much less nerve than his team. The England coach surprised everyone on Thursday evening, by choosing to simultaneously release Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden more than twenty minutes from the end of the match, while his team was held in check and frankly manhandled by the Denmark (1-1). As in its first meeting, which was ultimately won against Serbia, the English armada, so impressive on paper, produced a poor performance.
