Ethereum developers launched Shanghai-Capella, or Shapela, as an upgrade on the Goerli testnet today and will be the final rehearsal before the mainnet launch scheduled for April.
The upgrade has started at epoch 162304 on Goerli. After testing the upgrade on Goerli, they plan to deploy it on mainnet next month if testing goes smoothly.
Main features of the upgrade Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 4895 The aim is to enable the validator to withdraw ETH staking on the main network. This feature was turned off during the transition of Ethereum to cryptocurrency. proof-of-stake in September 2022 to ensure a safe transition.
Goerli will be the third and final test network used by developers to test Shapella upgrades.
