Erlangen: climate activists occupy power plant chimney – Bavaria

Climate activists have occupied the 141 meter high chimney of the thermal power station in Erlangen. On a banner unfurled there on Wednesday morning, they called for the phasing out of the use of gas as a fuel. Stadtwerke Erlangen and the police confirmed the action. The power plant remained in operation during this time.

According to the activists, the action began at 5 a.m. According to a spokesman for the group, the two people on the chimney wanted to stay there until the early afternoon and then come down again. The police were on site, but initially did not comment on possible further steps.
