Eric Zemmour wants to abolish the points license and ban 30 km / h in the city

The far-right polemicist, not yet a presidential candidate in 2022, estimated on RTL that “the points, now, it is a racket organized by the state”.

“We must remove the points license.” This is the new fight carried by Eric Zemmour this Sunday, on the plateau of Grand Jury by RTL-Le Figaro-LCI. The drop in the number of road deaths is not due to the points-based license but “to the improvement of the cars, to the seat belts in the rear”, argues the far-right polemicist, not yet a candidate for the 2022 presidential election.

He specifies that if this decision was taken, traffic offenses would still be punished but only through fines. The license point “it is useless” and it is a “racket organized by the State”, he insists.

“Do you know how much it costs a point recovery course? Already it’s infantilizing and it costs between 250 and 300 euros, it brings in 75 million euros, it’s racketeering!”

Bring the nationals back to 90km / h

“There are countries like Switzerland, Sweden, Finland which do not have a point-based license and they have fewer accidents than us, fewer deaths on the road”, argues the former journalist who also wishes reduce the limit to 90 km / h on national roads.

“This measure pushed by Édouard Philippe was one of the starting points for the mobilization of yellow vests, we need a gesture of appeasement towards France which must take his car every day to go to work”, adds- he.

Same reasoning for the 30km / h zones in town that he wants to remove. The lowering of the speed below 50km / h in the city is the result of a “speed hunt, led by ailments who do not need to go fast since they live in the heart of cities”, Judge Éric Zemmour.

His decision “taken” for 2022

Regarding the formalization of his candidacy for the 2022 presidential election, “the decision is maturing”. It is “taken in my head”, assures the polemicist, before adding: “When I make up my mind I will come, I will say ‘I am a candidate’ and everyone will be happy.”

The essayist, who promotes his latest book France has not said its last word with strong encounters that resemble political meetings, still refuses to officially announce his candidacy. He admits, however, that he feels a great “responsibility” towards those who hope to see him in the field.

“I have been on tour for a month and a half. You would see the vibe, the fervor, this mixture of hope and despair. They say to me: ‘do not abandon us, save us, be our providential man”, describes he on RTL. “If I ran it would be to win,” he adds.
