Eric Piolle’s support for the environmentalist primary is manifested

Nearly 350 activists, elected officials or personalities, such as the former presidential candidate Eva Joly or the sociologist Bruno Latour, posted this Sunday in a column published in the JDD, their support for the EELV mayor of Grenoble Eric Piolle, for a “humble and“ down to earth ”presidency, two months before the environmentalists’ primary for 2022.

For some, this support is far from a surprise since Eva Joly or MEP David Cormand already surrounded Eric Piolle during his first campaign speech in early July. But this platform in the Sunday newspapere allows you to count yourself before the September deadline (1st round between 16 and 19 and second from 25 to 28 September) against competing candidacies from MP Delphine Batho, MEP Yannick Jadot and former number 2 d ‘EELV Sandrine Rousseau.

Baptiste Morizot, Guillaume Gontard or Bruno Latour

Among the supporters of Eric Piolle are the spokesperson for EELV Alain Coulombel or Guillaume Gontard, president of the green group in the Senate. We also find in the list the philosopher Baptiste Morizot or Bruno Latour, sociologist known for his work on “The anthropocene”. And the former candidate Eva Joly therefore, the one who had collected only 2.31% of the votes in the 2012 presidential election, after winning the 2011 primary against the media Nicolas Hulot.

“We need a humble, down-to-earth presidency, which resembles us and which considers us, which knows the reality of work and that of the territories”, plead these supporters of Eric Piolle, recalling his victory in 2014 in Grenoble then his re-election to the municipal elections of 2020.

“An elected official listening”

“It has entered a new page in the history of political ecology in France. That of the ecology of government. It has shown that environmentalists can win to act on reality ”, insist the signatories, who plead to articulate“ radicalism ”and“ pragmatism ”.

“We are also proud to support as a presidential candidate a former executive” of Hewlett Packard “dismissed for having refused a relocation plan, who has become an elected official in the field who is attentive, aware of everyday realities, attached to the territories that are France beyond Parisian considerations and capable of building the gathering of environmental leftists ”, add these personalities.
