Isabell Werth has been one of the best dressage riders in the world for many years. In three or four years, however, the unprecedented career is set to end.

“Paris is a turning point,” said Isabell Werth of the “Deutsche Presse-Agentur” and “Bild” with reference to the Olympic Games in 2024. “Then at some point the active career will end,” said the dressage rider from Rheinberg. “Whether that’s 2024 or 2025 – I’ll find a sensible deal.”

Werth has won more medals than any other rider in the world. Her unique collection includes 37 gold medals at major international events: seven at the Olympics, nine at world and 21 at European championships. With another gold medal in Paris she would be Germany’s most successful Olympic participant and would overtake the canoeist Birgit Fischer.
