The new compulsory test for travelers returning is to be checked – randomly at internal borders as well as nationwide at airports and seaports. In the event of violations, there was a risk of “heavy fines,” said Interior Minister Seehofer.
At the start of the compulsory test for those returning from abroad, Federal Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer announced extended controls. “Anyone who enters Germany must expect to be checked. The federal and state police work hand in hand here,” he told “Bild am Sonntag”.
There will be spot checks at the internal borders in order to prevent long traffic jams in holiday traffic. “When entering from countries outside the EU, at the airports and seaports, everyone is checked, without exception,” said the CSU politician. Those who do not have a negative test may have to be in quarantine, and there is a risk of “heavy fines”.
Fear of the end of the vacation
As of today, a test is mandatory when entering the country. This is to prevent the coronavirus from spreading further towards the end of the summer holidays. All people over the age of twelve must be able to prove upon entry that the risk of transmission is reduced – with proof of a vaccination, proof of recovery or a negative test result.
Until now, this requirement was only available for air passengers. Now it applies to all means of transport – including those arriving by car or train.
Cross-border commuters and cross-border commuters are exempt from the notification and segregation obligation. In addition, there are still exceptions for personnel who are needed to ensure the cross-border movement of people, goods, goods and transport.
Seehofer promotes vaccination
In the vaccination debate, Seehofer spoke out against increasing the pressure on unvaccinated people with further measures: “So far, we have a well-functioning principle for those who have been vaccinated, those who have recovered and those who have tested negative. We should stick to that. I do not believe in any of it, direct or to exert indirect pressure on vaccination. ”
But he spoke out in favor of promoting the vaccination more than before. “It is the only way that gets us out of the pandemic. Without a sufficient vaccination quota in the population, we just hop from wave to wave.”
