Enhanced aid for companies with fewer than 250 employees in the hotel, catering and event industry

Prime Minister Jean Castex announced on Tuesday reinforced support for two months for companies with fewer than 250 employees in the hotel, restaurant, caterer, event and travel agency sectors, affected by restrictions linked to the health crisis.

“In December and January”, these companies with fewer than 250 employees losing at least 30% of their turnover due to the restrictions taken at the end of 2021 to curb the 5th wave of Covid-19 will be entitled to “exceptional payment assistance employee contributions”, an amount equal to 20% of their payroll, declared Jean Castex, during a trip to a Parisian brasserie.

Sectors “strongly impacted by the health crisis”

The companies concerned are those in the sectors of “hotels, restaurants, caterers, events and travel agencies”, he specified, which “continue to be very strongly impacted by the health crisis. “, underlined Jean Castex, alongside the Minister of Labor Elisabeth Borne and the Minister Delegate for SMEs and Tourism Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, after a meeting with representatives of employers’ organizations in the HCR sector (hotels, cafes, restaurants). As for companies with less than 250 employees in the same sectors which will lose more than 65% of their turnover, they will receive, in December and January, this same aid for the payment of employee contributions of 20%, but they “will also be exempt employers’ contributions”, announced the Prime Minister.

At present, all companies losing 65% of their turnover due to health restrictions have access to reimbursement of partial activity at 100% without remaining charge, he recalled. Those in tourism that lose at least 50% of their turnover see all of their fixed costs covered. For the time being, the number of companies concerned or the cost of these new measures, which “will remain moderate compared to those undertaken in the past”, is not yet evaluated, indicated the services of Matignon.
