On Sunday afternoon, as France rushed to elect its deputies, a British motorist was speeding on the A26 motorway in the Aisne department. Unfortunately for him, he was caught by the police, to whom the reckless driver gave a surprising excuse.
The twin radar of the BMO motorcyclists of Aisne quivered when it recorded the speed of a Range Rover registered in Great Britain which was traveling at 202 km/h on the A26. Faced with this excessive speed, the motorcyclists intercepted the car.
An unconvincing argument
In good faith or in bad faith, the driver assured the police that he thought he was driving at the right speed but that he had confused MPH and Km/h. In his favor, it must be recognized that 202 km/h corresponds to 125 MPH. Except that he could still have wondered why all the other vehicles were driving much slower than him.
In short, the argument did not convince the police, who immediately revoked his license, issued a hefty fine and issued a summons to appear in court.
