Zack Pinsent only wears period clothing. The young tailor from England feels very comfortable and self-confident in it. He inspires his followers.

He ceremonially burned his last pair of jeans when he was 14. Since then, Zack Pinsent from England has only worn historical men’s clothing – half his life. The period that inspires Zack Pinsent and to which he orients himself is the Regency at the beginning of the 19th century. The “Bridgerton” series helped this epoch to gain new fame – with many historical liberties.

Pinsent, on the other hand, advertises the women’s and men’s clothing he makes in his Brighton studio with “historical accuracy” on his website. His clientele has long since come from overseas.

He taught himself the craft and has perfected it over the years. He never had the desire to dress “normally”. He did it for many years and hated it, he told the BBC a few years ago. Dressing like he does is spectacular. It gives him a lot of self-confidence. “It’s weird. But if I enjoy what I’m doing, why would I change it?”

Success also proves him right. The 28-year-old inspires many people with his outfits, his style and his self-confidence. Around 375,000 users follow him on Instagram.

He also takes certain historical liberties, as a picture from last year shows – albeit with a clear message. Pinsent wears one in a photo Tailcoat in rainbow colors and draws attention to the rights of queer people. It gets better, he writes. But homosexuality is illegal in 75 countries and has the death penalty in 12 countries. “We must remember this and that the rainbow will always be a sign of hope.”
